Director - Composer
Philippe Carrese is a director and novelist. Immersed in the Mediterranean culture and nourished by the paradoxes of southern life, he has written nineteen colorful novels and directed some outstanding films for television and cinema (Malaterra, Liberata, L'arche de Babel). With Cassos, a jubilant feature film (2012), he revisited the quirky characters and picaresque stories that were inhabiting his firsts black and funny novels.
In terms of literature, Enclave (2009, Plon), selected for the Médicis prize, led its readers into a darker reflection. His recent trilogy Virtuoso Ostinato (2014), Back to San Catello (2015) and The Legend Belonore (2016, Aube) takes place the first half of the twentieth century around the resilient characters of a Lombard family. With the novel A history of humanity, Volume 1 and end to be released in April 2018, he makes a smashing return to his first love: humor.
Alongside his activities, Philippe Carrese is also a musician, composer and arranger, and he sometimes enjoys drawing with great pleasure.
