Summary
At the age of just five, Saroo finds himself accidentally alone on a train that is crossing India, transporting him more than a thousand kilometres away from his home. Now lost, the little boy has to learn how to survive alone on the streets of Calcutta. After months of vagrancy, he is taken to an orphanage and adopted by an Australian couple who are as gentle as they are affluent. Twenty years later, he decides to set off in search of his family. But how can he find them in a country of one billion inhabitants?
